Alexander Soderlund

Alex Soderlund is a senior Ph.D. candidate at the Ohio State University under the advisement of Dr. Mrinal Kumar. He received a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014 and worked under Dr. Lori Magruder at Applied Research Laboratories in the field of algorithmic feature extraction before attending graduate school to research decision-making within random dynamical systems, such as:

1. Tracking targets with non-linear dynamics via optimized sensor selection.

2. Information fusion from multiple agents in both evidential reasoning and conventional Bayesian perspectives.

3. Forecasting the spread of ongoing wildfires with subsequent monitoring maneuvers performed by autonomous aerial drones.

He worked as a research contractor at AFRL New Mexico in the summer of 2018 and is planning to graduate with a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in December of 2019.

He currently performs research at the Laboratory for Autonomy in Data-Driven and Complex Systems at the Aerospace Research Center.
